I don't think you can go wrong with either rifle. My choice would depend on my budget. I would choose the Tikka if I had the cash reserved to top it with decent glass. But, if it would only leave me with Barska quality optics to mount on the Tikka I would choose the American and put better glass on it. JMHO.

The Ruger American models both struggled with feeding. The Ruger American Standard has an older rotary magazine that has many problems.
