The lmt gas block is significantly stronger than most. It utilizes a 45 degree turn, instead of 90. This allows the whole system to run more gently or with less turbulence when pushed hard. Along with this they also use a strait gas tube which is stronger and less liable to clog up. Lastly they do make a piston so do with that what you will

I think the LMT could make shooting suppressed with the same setting that will cycle unsuppressed alot more pleasant. The 45° gas port is on the barrel side. Gas block is normal. .750 gas block. LMT must press fit their pins. Im convinced after bending a typical punch and having to step up to a heavier punch and hammer, then it came out like butter. LMT gas blocks are press fit. Torching it won't make it budge. Obviously didnt want to overdo the heat so moved on.Also, the Colt/Diemaco LSW upper uses a straight gas tube. But, in it's case it's because the tube wall is thicker to better withstand the heat buildup of sustained firing, and straight to clear the thicker barrel of the weapon. My opinion: A straight gas tube may have some benefit, but it is not a stand-alone part.
