Jul 19, 2020 · If it's an HST, I would only use Kubota fluid. Gear drive, Rotella. I use the Rotella in one of my M9's (other has Chevron in it). My 2 cents, take it for what it's worth. Personally, I wouldn't use TSC store brand fluid to start a brush fire with. it's JUNK.

I think adding 30w oil will cost you much more than driving to the Kubota dealer and buying some UDT. I currently run Chevron THF 1000 in my M9540.

Kubota does check for Kubota fluid according to the manager if warranty work is required and use that as a reason to deny the claim. According to him, any fluid with the specs meeting UDT will work and not harm the tractor. I think that is just a scare tactic to get you to pay $20 a gallon for their branded fluid.

If a failure occures and the oil is sent off to determine viscosity, grade, and age then Kubota would know the wrong viscosity was being used.
