Absolutely no need to remove grip. It is just the one MSH pin that holds it in place. As stated above the front of the magwell rests on a ledge. Remove pin, remove magwell, insert new pin, finished. It shouldn't take more than 5 minutes your first time. A minute or less once you get the hang of it.

I have used this same magwell on staccato gen 2 grips and it fit on the PT grip with a little “finesse”— no filing needed though. The grip should be compatible with any “gen 1” magwell such as the Dawson precision tactical advantage gen 1 magwell. Lastly, I am using all staccato mags with Dawson or 10-8 base pads.
