An idyllic day for motor racing, under clear blue skies and late-summer sunshine on a picturesque track in Belgium, ended with the death of the 22-year-old French driver on Saturday.

He died at the scene, while Correa is in a stable condition in hospital. The race was cancelled and the FIA launched an investigation into the incident.
