8n ford tractor carburetor.
I have an early model ford 8n with the front mount distributor. I got it a few weeks ago. It had been sitting for about a year. I ended up putting a new carburetor on it and cleaning the spark plugs. I have been driving it around quite a bit and it has been running pretty good except for the occasional miss.

I've cleaned the carb, airfilter, points, next I was planning on swapping plugs and checking compression. 8n 12v converted, in neutral it will get up to rpms but not smoothly. Put a load on it and it wont reach full rpm and chug then stall.

Feb 27, 2012. #1. Hi, a Ford 8N in good condition, has sat up a while. We put a kit in the Marvel Schebler carb, but it was pretty clean. Now it won"t hit a lick except with the choke all the way on it will start and idle perfectly, very sweet and smooth, from very slow up to top speed. If we let the choke off it will die.

First, if you are sure your firing order is correct--1243 CCW and you have good spark plug wires (copper core) and new Autolite 437 plugs gapped correctly at .025....then I would say you need to look at this as a distributor related problem.
